Johan Hedberg 2012-13 Mask

Johan Hedberg of the New Jersey Devils (born May 5, 1973 in Leksand, Sweden.)

Artist: Dave Gunnarsson

Hedberg Unveils New Mask Design

The left side depicts a moose in devils horns who's lost his cane and dentures – and now wears glasses.

Maybe he's been around a while, but this moose is growing old gracefully.

"The moose has been on there all the time, but now maybe the moose is getting old," Hedberg said. "He's got glasses and here he's lost his teeth. You can see the cane sticking up there. He's not old, really. He's more wise, more experienced.

"Look how smart he looks. He looks like a professor."

Ilya Bryzgalov 2012-13 Mask

Ilya Bryzgalov of the Philadelphia Flyers (born June 22, 1980 in Togliatti, Russia.)

In late February Bryzgalov began wearing a new Star Wars-themed mask painted by Franny Drummond.

Darth Vader is on the right side and Yoda on the left side, with smaller images of R2-D2, the Millenium Falcon, and a TIE fighter. But first Yoda was holding the wrong colored lightsaber (as any Star Wars fan know Yoda uses a green lightsaber, not red, as red lightsabers are used by the Sith and green by the Jedi.) So the mistake was quickly corrected.

Below is the first mask Bryzgalov wore this season.
Artist: Stephane Bergeron of La Griffe Originale

The tiger is back on Bryzgalov’s new mask for the upcoming season, but it’s more ferocious this time and, with a striking set of claws, appears to be looking for a fight. The Flyers logo has also been relocated this year, while the proud Russian goaltender bears the Kremlin on his forehead and the Russian Firebird, or Phoenix, rising on his chin.

Jonas Hiller, 2012-13 Mask

Jonas Hiller of the Anaheim Ducks (born Feb. 12, 1982 in Felben Wellhausen, Switzerland.)

Artist: Alec Voggel of Airexx mask studio

Brought to us by The Goalie Guild.

“Hiller wanted to represent the Honda Center and the California surfer’s lifestyle, and on the back, his Poseidon has returned! It wasn’t on his last mask, but now it is coming out from his number-one on the backplate in a very detailed way,” Alec explained. “Of course, the black is flat for all of the fans who wanted to see Hiller wearing a flat black mask again!”
